A collection of personal writing by Wren Callahan about colour, light and the difference between the two. It is offered as it is, for reading.
Not professional advice
Nothing here is professional advice, and nothing here is a recommendation tailored to your particular room, light or house. These are notes from one north facing flat. Anything you try, you try on your own judgement, on your own walls, and at your own risk. Paint fumes want ventilation, old paintwork can contain lead and should be tested rather than sanded on a hunch, and anything structural or electrical belongs with a qualified trade.
Accuracy
I write carefully and I still get things wrong. Everything here is accurate to the best of my understanding at the moment it was written, and some of it will age. Pages carry their last updated date so you can see how old a piece of thinking is. If you spot an error, write to hello@lifeinsoftcolors.org.
Colour on your screen
Every screen renders colour differently, which is the subject of several articles here. Nothing shown on this site should be treated as an accurate reproduction of a real colour, and no colour decision should be made from a screen alone. Test it on the actual wall, in the actual light.

The writing on this site is mine. Quote a paragraph with a link back and no permission is needed. Reproducing a whole piece, or using anything here to train a model or to fill another site, needs asking first. Photographs are licensed from their photographers and are not mine to pass on.
