One address, and I am the person reading it. I answer most things, though it can take a couple of weeks.

What I like getting

Photographs of a colour that went wrong. Genuinely, those are my favourite emails. Someone repainted a hallway and cannot work out why it looks dirty now, and nine times out of ten it is the light rather than the colour, and working that out with a stranger is the most useful thing I do. Several pieces here exist because a reader wrote in with a problem I had never thought about. If something you send turns into an article I will ask you first, and I will not use your name unless you want me to.

What I cannot do

I cannot tell you what colour to paint your room. Not because I am being coy, but because I have not stood in it, and a colour recommendation made from a photograph on a screen I have not calibrated is a guess dressed up as expertise. That habit is the exact thing this site was started to get away from. I do not do paid colour consultations.

The colour note box

The box on the homepage is a plain mailto link. Using it opens the mail program on your own device with a message addressed to the address above, which is a personal inbox. There is no list platform, no database, and nothing stored anywhere else. The privacy policy sets out the whole of it.

Corrections

If I got something wrong, say so. It goes on the page with a note about what changed.

Brands

There are no sponsored pieces here dressed up as ordinary ones, and nothing is written to order. Read the affiliate disclosure and the editorial policy before sending anything. Being sent a set of paint samples does not commit me to writing about them, or to liking them.

Using what is here

Quote a paragraph and link back, no permission needed. Republishing a whole piece needs asking first.
